Intromission: Easy Chest From Old Knickers

All Clarence Day while going to work I walk by a small dump. Organic waste, crushed piece of furniture or appliances are left in that respect and it's emptied out every so often.

A fewer years ago, I sullied two boxershorts in a good shape. There were more of them, but the rain damaged their bottom ( the plyboard was bent ).

I really needed some sort of storage, and I thought they could help. The idea of the chest came up the followers day.

This throw doesn't cost much.

Two drawers, two hinges, a few screws (and the adequate screwdriver) are almost everything you need.

I've also used a rasp and a correction pen.

Pace 1: Scavenging and Cleaning

Back home, the first thing I did was using a small wet get at to clean the drawers. Don't use overmuch water on plywood every bit it can engulf humidity, particularly on the back of the drawers, where there isn't any tutelar layer.

Step 2: Hinges

This step could have been way faster if I idea about removing the handles. ¯\_ツ_/¯
I couldn't turn the drawers upright to coiffure the following stairs right because of them, soh I had to find a way around.

I put over the drawers as if they were already part of the chest, one on top of the other.

I positioned a first hinge on the back, and used the correction write to make marks on the wood, then repeated the process for the other one and only.

With this we know where we'll let to berth our screws.

Now we john direct one drawer at a clock, upright to have enough persuasiveness, and screw. When the first side is done, it's easier to seize the other drawer and add the last-place screws.

And with that.... we're almost done.

Step 3: Handles

Two steps here.

The tail end hold is useless, so we fair-and-square have to remove it. I far left the screws not to lay down holes.


The crowning handle ISN't in the right focussing, so we also have to remove it, turn it and screw IT spinal column.

Step 4: Possible Sources of Occupy

I wanted to keep the project atomic number 3 simple as possible, but there are a few design flaws.

- When possibility the pectus, the back of the drawers can embark in contact. It's non really a problem if you don't open more than 90 degres. As plywood can bend, I don't think we have got to interest as well much anyway.

Simply it seems safer to remove a little material. I used the wood file to cut the corner of the fanny drawer.
It's not enough to open it completely ( 180°) , only there isn't anymore contact when we lift the top ( around 90°).

- Plywood is weak. I left the metal bar on the top and bottom of the chest. It makes the bottom a bit stronger, only only in the center. Information technology's okey as long as there isn't too much pressure. It would personify nice to strengthen the undersurface if you wishing to place heavy stuff in your chest.

Step 5: Fill Your Chest

My desk was full of tools and supplies, I'm glad I came up with this musical theme.

Greenbac : These drawers come in from some low quality piece of furniture.

This would personify really nice to taste this with both old furniture, with a beautiful inscribed wood.
