I love using my crock pot and this recipe was perfect! I love this recipe made it for my family and they ate it up!!!! I will definitely make it over again!
03/17/2015
Pressed for time this St. Patrick's day, I wanted to utilise the wearisome cooker. I used i 12 oz. Deadeye Stout past Triton Brewing Co. and didn't measure the dark-brown saccharide. I just patted the meat dry out and added the carbohydrate. I probably just used 3/four loving cup total. Nosotros really liked the taste of this meat, and viii hours was perfect for the meat, but too long for the vegetables. I was worried the beer would brand the dinner bitter, merely it wasn't, at all. A nice repast that I would make again, only calculation the vegetables about 1 - 1 1/2 hours later on starting the meat. Cheers, COUNTRYRAY, for sharing your recipe.
05/07/2012
i liked it alot just i thought it was a little bitter. simply could exist the taste buds though because my fellow loved it
03/25/2015
I loved this! I thought the combination of the brown saccharide and beer was a perfect blend of bitter and sweet and the meat was autumn-autonomously tender and moist. Even my husband, who is not generally a fan of corned beef, loved information technology. The simply change I made was to mix the spice packet (included with the corned beef I bought) in with the brown sugar earlier rubbing it on the beef. This volition definitely be my get-to corned beef recipe from now on.
01/15/2013
This was great! I fabricated this corned beef (minus the veggies) to use in a recipe for mini reubens establish on this website. Information technology was delicious!
11/05/2012
I think the beer adds too much of a bitter flavor to the repast, but I look forward to a week of corned beef sandwiches.
03/18/2016
Yes, will definitely brand this again! Everyone loved it. Changes: I ony put in a few potatoes in the crock pot for flavoring, only I don't like my potatoes or cabbage soggy then I steamed my cabbage separately and roasted my potatoes
03/12/2018
I've fabricated this for years; my family loves it and would disown me if I didn't take it for St Patrick'due south Day dinner! If you lot notice Guinness to be a flake too bitter, I suggest using a red or amber Irish beer like Killians.
03/17/2016
This is my family'southward favorite St. Patrick's day dinner
03/15/2015
Came out awesome, I may use less brownish sugar next time although the sweet wasn't offputting
03/05/2013
Made this for dinner tonight, it was succulent. I used Coors Low-cal (it was the only beer I had) and added some apple juice to requite information technology more sweet since some said it was bitter. I also omitted the cabbage since I am the only one who will eat it, this might have likewise fabricated it less bitter.
03/07/2018
The bitter is caused by the stout beer...use Budweiser and the light beer taste will be merely perfect without the strong bitterness...
12/15/2013
This is my go to recipe everytime for corned beef. We beloved this recipe even our picky 4yr erstwhile son gobbles this upward!! Thanks
04/03/2017
I added small amount garlic pulverisation, Italian seasoning & Hungarian paprika. Added the cabbage wedges during final 40 mins so they wouldn't be likewise soggy. The corned beef was tender & very tasty. I will make this dish again.
01/xi/2017
This corned beef has the best flavor of any I've made!! I used 1/two of the cabbage and potatoes. The chocolate-brown saccharide and stout were unusual flavorings but very successful.
03/eleven/2018
No way will a 4 lb corned beef, 3 potatoes and half-dozen carrots serve 16 people. Possibly just a taste each, but not a full meal. Corned beef shrinks and can be fatty depending on cut. You need at to the lowest degree double the meat potatoes and carrots for 16 people.
02/04/2014
And then delicious! Definitely will exist making it again. I wasnt able to fit many potatoes or veggies because my crock pot is small, but I did add together one large sugariness potato, ii pocket-sized carmine ones, a giant onion, and some carrots. So like shooting fish in a barrel, and so good!
03/nineteen/2018
Dear this recipe! I did a few of the suggestions in the other reviews. Used only one 12 oz. bottle of stout, rubbed a trivial prepared mustard on superlative then half the brown sugar. Don't melt the veggies with the meat. Melt the carrots half way through the meat cooking fourth dimension. Cook the cabbage separate. And then take the meat and carrot out of the cooking juices and cook the potatoes for about an hour on high. Information technology is worth information technology. Everything was so practiced!
03/eighteen/2018
I prepared the corned beef equally directed and placed in tiresome cooker with stout beer already in identify. Placed the 1/4 sections of cabbage on either side of meat. Pour rest of beer over. Cooked on low for 2 hours the added fingerling potatoes on one end of crockpot and baby carrots on other end. Cooked some other 4 hours and was beautiful and then flavorful. Will definately utilise this recipe once more and again.
03/13/2017
This is very practiced! The sauce marinade is delicious. Only thing is that , I take a large slow cooker and it was to full with all the recipe called for.
03/19/2013
I made this for dinner tonight I used a stout beer. Nosotros found it a bit bland and too sweetness. I recommend to omit the sugar and maybe calculation the spice packet
03/27/2017
I ended up turning the slow cooker upwards to loftier, because it just didn't seem like it was cooking later nigh 3 1/2 hours on low. I think you lot need a bigger cooker for all the ingredients, because i had a difficult time fitting it all in my half dozen quart cooker. The beer tastes was noticeable, maybe moreso because i don't beverage beer. but it added alot of flavor, it was very good. I will make again, but use less veggies, and may i bottle of beer instead.
03/19/2018
This turned out delish..got a hint of sweet from the brown carbohydrate with all the other flavors mixed..I didn't change annihilation and went according to the recipe..it's a hit with anybody in my family who were not fans of corned beefiness..thank you so much for this recipe!!
03/xix/2018
The flavors were wonderful. My family asked me to save the recipe and definitely make it once again.
03/18/2018
I decreased the sugar and just used enough to rub over the brisket. The amount of vegetables needed to be decreased as there were only 4 of us. The flavours of this dish were amazing. When I make it once again I will cook the brisket start and add the vegetables only one-2 hours before eating! Splendid dish
03/twenty/2017
Followed the recipe, merely did also add the flavour packet from the beefiness. I used half the potatoes and vegetables it called for. Information technology was delicious - I did not experience information technology was bitter as some other reviewers stated. I actually institute the left-overs better the next 24-hour interval.
03/12/2017
This was wonderful! I added two cans of Guinness! A keeper!! Had brioche rolls and made sandwiches with sweet honey mustard and horseradish ! Bang-up!
03/19/2017
The dish was great, with the dark beer and brown sugar. It's the way I'thou going adjacent St Patty's day...
03/18/2018
I made this yesterday, St. Patricks Twenty-four hours The best I've always had bar none! The only change I fabricated was to use a nighttime ale instead of the stout. The sweet potatoes were an added surprise! Also the brown carbohydrate! Can't look to get at it again today! Thanks!...Mark
03/17/2018
I fabricated it in the crock pot 5LB 1hr on high iv hrs on low splendid.
03/18/2018
This turned out corking. The only modify I made was putting in the cabbage afterward 4 hours of cooking so continued for 2 hours. Volition def make once again!
03/18/2018
This was THE All-time corned beef Ever!!!! Information technology was then tender and the flavor was astounding! Loved the sweet potatoes, although next fourth dimension, I volition add them a footling later in the procedure--they were VERY soft.
03/22/2020
Perfect combo of flavors and gives it a different twist with the sweetness potatoes-
03/17/2017
I decreased the brownish sugar to 1/2 cup! This was the BEST corned beef nosotros ever had! I volition definitely make it again!
03/18/2018
Made this exactly as the recipe was written and the whole family loved it!!
03/20/2017
Very easy prep; excellent recipe. I prefer this over boiling it on the stovetop, seems to taste better cooked slowly. Highly recommend.
03/xviii/2018
This was cracking! I make corned beefiness in my crock pot several times a year and this was the accented best yet. I added the veggies about ii hours before the beefiness was washed and they turned out but right. This is now my fashion of cooking corned beef.
03/18/2018
I've ever utilise the crock pot to make it. Instead of using Guinness stout I used Porter instead and halved the brown sugar. Had it with the stout once and it fabricated the potatoes very bitter. I also use my homemade pickling spice. It was tender and tasty. Always core the cabbage, more tender and compatible. Great recipe.
03/18/2018
Fabricated this for St. Patty'southward day and it was the best corned beef I've always served. I used a xiv.ix oz tin of drought stout Guinness and a haeaping cup of brown sugar and followed directions with the exception of cooking the corned beef on loftier for about an 60 minutes and a half. I then added the potatoes (baby red and Golden's sliced in half) also as infant carrots, cabbage and turning it downwardly to depression for 4 hours. Wish I had added the cabbage the last hour ( or even steamed as one reviewer mentioned) and then it wouldn't have been so wilted only nonetheless the season was outstanding. This is going in my recipe box for sure!
03/18/2018
The Guinness stout added an extra layer of flavor and the corned beefiness turned out super tender.
03/twenty/2018
Recipe with iv lb brisket, 1-2 less veggies per item, easily serves 4 people. ane onion more than enough. Cooked 8 hours even on low is too long, vegetables almost disintegrated. Next time, I will melt on stove top in dutch oven. 1 ane/2 cups brown sugar was too sweetness, I would cut that in one-half. Cut vegetables in larger chunks. Flavor was astonishing with Stout Guinness. Have passed on the recipe to family unit and will definitely get in again.
03/17/2018
I cooked it as per directions but I did non care for the taste side by side fourth dimension i will not use the beer
03/17/2017
I did not care for this recipe. I used my favorite stout beer, which is not very bitter at all, but when heated in the crock pot information technology turned into a large pot of disappointment. I spent an extra 45 minutes doctoring information technology upward just to make it edible.
03/eighteen/2017
The meat was fork tender and very flavorful. I used much less chocolate-brown carbohydrate than called for (only almost a tablespoon) because nosotros eat a low sugar diet. I added a tablespoon of whole pinkish peppercorns. No one tasted whatever bitterness whatsoever from the stout, just depth of flavor. Served with soda staff of life toasts on the side. I volition brand this every St. Patrick's Solar day! Thank you for the recipe.
03/18/2018
I really liked the flavors Simply: i. No way this feeds more than 4, 5 at a stretch 2. Barely fit into my big crock pot leaving out the cabbage 3. Veggies should NOT go in the same time equally beef if you plan to cook on low for 6-eight hours. Also mushy. But we did eat this upwardly on St. Patty's Day 2019!
03/18/2018
This was a great repast, I adjusted it slightly by using 2 large sweet potatoes iv cerise potatoes 1/2 a caput of cabbage. This recipe doesn't call for seasonings so the side by side fourth dimension I make it I will add 1 tbsp of garlic salt and 1 tbsp of ground black pepper.
03/18/2018
Made information technology exactly like the recipe sans carrots. Excellent! Slap-up season and it was the most tender corned beef I ever made.
03/eighteen/2018
Made the slow cooker Corned Beef and it was first-class. As with whatsoever recipe that I make , I am never true to the recipe and only utilise information technology as a base. Ordinarily brand some modifications along the way. The slow cooker made the Corned Beefiness very tender and it was thoroughly enjoyed downwards to the last seize with teeth. No left overs , very sad.
03/18/2018
Succulent! Didn't utilise the whole amount of brown carbohydrate , only coated the outside liberally. Will definitely use this recipe again!
03/xviii/2018
Yep I will make information technology once again.. my guests loved it. The just thing I did different was I used beef broth instead of the stout beer. Excellent recipe
03/17/2017
I took the advice of someone who mentioned using the tea ball for the spices. As well fabricated sure to melt on low for eight hours. Information technology was a huge hit with then many at the party commenting it was the best corned beef and cabbage they had ever had.
03/17/2017
This is so tasty! I cut the vegetables into big chunks rather than chopping them, but otherwise followed the directions to the letter. My family thought it was succulent. Will definitely brand this again.
03/12/2018
This delicious dish is Such a comfort food tradition and smells wonderful while cooking. I've used both blood-red and sweet potatoes, or just red potatoes; in a compression simply russets. I sometimes add celery and do the cabbage separately. I Haven't Used brown carbohydrate every bit I find the Guinness and seasoning packets that come with the meat sufficient and not besides sugariness. I plan to make it in my new instant pot this yr.
03/xi/2018
I put mustard on then applied chocolate-brown sugar and cooked my on low for 8-10 hours, and as it says use guinness or a stout or porter.
10/29/2018
All-time I've always made. It was juicy and tasty and wowed later on. The only things I did differently....I did not use a sweet potato equally I did not have one on hand. And, I would utilise more red potatoes side by side fourth dimension, perhaps 4 or 5....Also, I did non have Stout beer, so I used a regular beer that we had on hand.
03/xx/2018
Nosotros loved this recipe! The stout really added a great flavour. Our corn beef was only nigh 2 one/2 lbs. I did non use sweet potatoes because I did not have any. I filled the slow cooker with equally many vegetables as information technology would agree. I also used only about 1/2 loving cup of brown sugar. The left overs were wonderful. Cheers so much for the recipe!
03/18/2018
This St. Patrick'southward Day dinner this year was both delicious and simple. I loved this recipe and I love my slow cooker.
03/18/2018
I fabricated no changes to this delicious recipe !!!!
03/xviii/2018
I loved the simplicity of this main dish. I used my larger crock pot, and everything merely fit. I fixed it by viii:30 AM, and forgot most dinner for the rest of the day. There was so much food for just my husband and me, that I invited 2 single friends to bring together united states. They enjoyed the repast very much. I don't similar meat dishes to be sweet, and then I only used half the dark-brown carbohydrate called for. Adjacent year I will make this again, but with ii changes. 1. I will leave out the sugar completely. 2. I will add the sweet potatoes a little bit afterwards and then they aren't so soft.
03/xviii/2017
We really enjoyed this. I would have given it 5 stars, but I couldn't fit all the veggies in our crock pot. I think it should exist noted you need a really large crock pot to accommodate it all. All the same, at the end of the twenty-four hour period the corned beef was actually tender and the veggies were cooked (half-dozen hours). The regular potatoes tasted similar Guiness (kinda odd, but worked for us!) and the sweet potatoes were falling autonomously. I might wait a fleck longer to put the veggies in next year.
03/21/2017
I made this exactly as written, which I consider only fair before altering information technology. I My only trouble was that my corned beef brisket was only 3 lbs, not four, and even in my large slow cooker, there were also many veg to fit. I liked the recipe very much, myself, but my husband didn't, so much, because "it doesn't taste like I'm used to." Giddy man. I volition brand it again, though. Mayhap simply not for St Paddy's.
03/19/2018
A tad salty (probably the brand corned beef I used), and I'd likely soak it overnight should I go far again. Regardless, it was really quite skillful, and everyone enjoyed information technology. The beer adds a dimension I haven't tried before, which I liked.
04/01/2019
Unfortunately, I used a Stout beer, as directed, resulting in a strong bitter gustatory modality. Please recommend the Guinness Draft but!
03/27/2018
I made this merely several modifications based on ingredients on hand. Didn't have any stout and so sub'd a hearty Budweiser variety and a lilliputian chix bullion to make upwardly the book. I did a lot of improvising with what I thought would be good and what I had on hand. About a lb of baby carrots. i 1/2 lbs of infant potatoes, red and white mixed. 2 onions cut into 1/iv's. Opened, rinsed and trimmed the fatty off the four lb corned beef roast. Rubbed the unabridged roast with 1 envelope of onion soup. Sprinkled it with a little ground bay exit (been dying to try this new addition to the spice arsenal) and granulated garlic. Oh yeah, I added that little spice pack you become into the beer at the kickoff. No cabbage then I cleaned and halved about ane lb of brussel sprouts. Put the hat on, prepare for 8 hrs on low.
03/21/2018
Absolutely succulent! I will make this over again for sure. It doesn't all fit in slow cooker. I had to apply my Mom'southward very large pot she used for soup and fabricated it stove top-low and slow.
03/20/2018
This was an excellent style to set my corned beef this St. Patrick's Twenty-four hour period. Nosotros loved the flavors. I used Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin Ale, my favorite beer and information technology was non biting at all. I only had modest purple potatoes and they were bang-up as well. Loved the addition of a sweetness potato! My roast was but a little over 2 lbs, so I adapted amounts, merely stuck to the recipe. I did add the tiny packet of seasoning that came with the meat, sprinkling it on summit. Information technology turned out really tasty, tender and done to perfection. Thanks for the great recipe!
03/sixteen/2020
Non bitter, just don't forget the sugar.....I did...once...LOL. Added Bay leaf and clove of garlic....Used the spice pack.
03/17/2018
But used plenty sugar to coat the brisket (about 3/4 cup) and reserved one-half the vegetables to add in the last hour and so that they retained some crispness. Yumm.
03/17/2018
Made information technology equally instructed....Splendid! A squeamish change for St. Patrick's Solar day. Lots of wonderful leftovers. I will make it again.
03/xviii/2018
Loved it. Meat and veggies were very tender. I volition make this once more
03/18/2018
I followed the recipe using a 6 quart crock and not all the veggies fit. We weren't crazy about how tough the corned beef was fifty-fifty after I extended the cook time. Mayhap it was the cut? Flavor was good but probably volition become back to my other means of preparing our corned beef. Thanks for posting it though. It was worth a try. Nosotros fix corned beef often and similar to try recipes.
03/17/2018
I added a rub of minced garlic, basil, oregano to the brown carbohydrate rub. Also used shredded cabbage which I added one hour before cease fourth dimension. Delicious ??
03/21/2021
I used Guinness as called for but reduced the brown saccharide to 3/iv cup. We prefer the potatoes and cabbage cooked separately and this year I roasted new potatoes and braised the cabbage with a little of the cooking liquid from the Crock.
03/23/2021
It was fantastic I had never used brown sugar on corned beef earlier, and had ever put the veggies on the bottom merely putting them on top they cooked up perfectly this will be my get to recipe from here on out!
03/18/2021
This turned out amazingly delicious! My husband said it tasted like the best Prime number Rib he's ever eaten! High praise indeed. I did have to alter a couple of things, just not significantly. I discovered that my brown sugar was a large ROCK, so was unable to actually rub it all over the brisket. Rather, I had to fleck off a lump and dissolve it in the stout (I did use Guiness). I wearisome-cooked it overnight, took it out and let it cool and sliced it. Put it in the fridge until dinner. I So cooked the veggies - I don't like them mushy - in my instant pot in the broth from the corned beefiness. It was Then GOOD! St. Patrick would have DROOLED over it! Thanks for a great recipe!
03/18/2021
Information technology came out very adept and is a "keeper". I followed the recipe but did accept a few suggestions beneath - I added the spice dorsum with the 1st half of bottle of Guinness and also spiced out the adding of the Veges. I put the white potatoes and carrots in during the last 3 1/2 hours and added the cabbage and sweet potatoes during the last 2 1/ii. They all came out perfect- not mushy at all.
03/15/2021
Looks proficient merely definitely not for dibetics.
03/22/2021
No changes what then ever! It was the BEST corned beef ever to come up out of my kitchen. I make corned beef and cabbage every year and decided I would attempt this. I practise not understand the "bitter" comments. Did they not use the brown sugar, did they use to much stout beer? I used 1 bottle of Guinness Stout ( I don't like beer!), used one-half in the crock pot as stated and the rest over the top of the veggies. I used both sweet and russet potatoes coarsely chopped the cabbage, half a large yellow onion and used a ane/2 pocketbook of baby carrots. BEST EVER! Follow the recipe and y'all volition not be disappointed. Make changes and you change the mode it turns out.
09/28/2020
Awesome flavor. Great become to recipe. This is my any 24-hour interval is corned beefiness solar day recipients!
04/02/2018
Made it without sweet potatoes and added bay leaves. three our of four our the states really liked or liked it. The fourth person ate it but did not much care for it but she is elderly and has shifting gustatory modality buds these days. We should take gotten a larger corned beef.
04/03/2018
Great stew and it was easy. Notwithstanding, my husband did non similar the sweet potatoes with the corned beef and did not like the vegetables as left overs because of the sugariness potatoes. He felt they ruined the mix. I dear sweet potatoes but didn't care for them in this dish. Loved the beer as the liquid! Great proffer.
03/22/2018
Splendid gustatory modality!!
03/18/2018
My family unit did non care for the flavor of the stout. It needed more brown saccharide. Potatoes came out tasting bitter. Easy to set. Cooked on low for 6 hours. Won't brand again.
03/17/2019
I fabricated this in the wearisome cooker but only placed the corned beef and cabbage in the beer as I wasn't sure if I would like beer infused carrots and potatoes. The corned beef was really adept but the cabbage cooked in the beer had an odd favor in my opinion. Next time I brand this, I volition but put the corned beef in the beer and melt the other items separately.
04/25/2020
The tenderest corned beef e'er made.
03/xx/2018
This turned out fabled. It was the best corned beef recipe I ever made.
03/25/2017
Admittedly perfect!
03/16/2017
Fabricated this last yr and it was wonderful will make information technology again for St. Paddy'southward Solar day this calendar week.
04/05/2018
The corned beefiness was tender, only the potatoes and carrots were bitter from the stout. Information technology was a very strong flavour in the vegetables. Probably volition non use this recipe once more. Sorry. Just not our sense of taste.
03/16/2020
I'grand not that wild about cabbage, and since I'chiliad solitary this calendar week I skipped it; same for sweet potatoes. Otherwise, I followed the recipe, using Guinness Stout, and was very happy with the outcome. I'll be using this recipe again!
03/17/2018
I used a stake ale instead of a dark stout and used half of the chocolate-brown carbohydrate called for in this recipe, and no cabbage because we don't care for it.I don't treat the darker ales and neither does my husband. Next fourth dimension, I might utilise the whole amount of brown carbohydrate called for. I wanted to duplicate my mom's corned beef and she used a minumum amount of dark-brown carbohydrate, so I exercise likewise. We ate corned beef sandwiches for a couple of days. Delish!
03/17/2019
'meh! Nothing special at all. Sense of taste was lacking. I'll stick to the traditional recipe.
03/xiv/2018
Didn't brand any modify. I thought the flavor was ok but the veggies were mushy and the meat was dry out.
03/17/2018
Super easy and oh, so good! My married man'south not a big fan of corned beefiness, but with the brown sugar (and beer), how could he not? This recipe is for a large irksome cooker. I had to cutting mine near fifty% for a 2 liter Crock Pot.
03/29/2018
This was soooo good -- I can't imagine making corned beefiness whatever other fashion. I take several recipes that apply beer, but I never thought of using beer with corned beef. My roast was smaller so I merely used 1 bottle of Newcastle beer. I used reddish potatoes, onions and carrots, but I have a keen cabbage casserole that I prefer. Couldn't accept been improve.
03/eighteen/2018
Very practiced! My family liked it a lot.
03/27/2018
I liked information technology, only my husband thought it was too sweet.
03/18/2018
Merely change I fabricated was cooking the carrots potatoes & cabbage on the stove. I couldn't fit them all in my big crock pot. I beloved cooking in the crockpot and then delicious & no mess. Anybody loved it so much at that place were no leftovers. The dark-brown sugar made information technology so sweet. Nosotros didn't notice theguinness To exist bitter at all. Volition brand this again. Succulent!!!
03/15/2021
Fabricated reasonable facsimile of this recipe tonight for St Patty'southward Day and came out great! Used small, red potatoes, whole cabbage head, stout (of course) and pepper/allspice/bayleaf/etc. Whole firm smells fabulous and corned beef was wonderful! Required about 6+ hours on Loftier to get meat tender, but worth it! Definite recommend.
